Non-Toxic & Eco-Friendly Summer Favorites

Soaking up summer the low-tox way with my favorite non-toxic and eco-friendly picks: a baking soda-free deodorant that holds up in the heat, an antioxidant-rich serum for that sun-kissed glow, breezy linen pants I live in, and an iced matcha ritual that keeps me cool and grounded. These swaps make summer feel as good for the planet as it does for my skin and soul.

It seems like summer comes and goes in an instant, so I’m delighting in all things summer before fall makes its entrance. I’m soaking in all of the extra minutes of daylight, thoroughly enjoying every moment with my kids (well, almost every moment), getting in as many hikes as possible and making delicious food with our fresh garden harvest.

Summer should feel carefree, but it’s also when we’re exposed to more products than usual: sunscreen, bug spray, food packaging, the list goes on. That’s why I try to be thoughtful about what comes into our home and onto our skin, especially during the sunniest season.

I’m sharing what’s been lighting me up this summer, but beyond that, I’ve created a non-toxic summer landing page with non-toxic guides that help you move towards a more low-tox lifestyle. If you’re worried about endocrine disrupting chemicals in sunscreen, check out my non-toxic face sunscreen guide, non-toxic sunscreen for the whole family guide and my acne-safe non-toxic sunscreen guide. Beyond sunscreen, safer bug spray and non-toxic pest control are a must for a non-toxic home. If you have kids, check out my non-toxic kids summer guides

I also try to incorporate some wellness practices into my routine, since summer is always go-go-go! I’ve been carving out small rituals, like morning matcha, evening walks, red light therapy and grounding into my day.

Below you’ll find a roundup of all the things I’ve been loving so far this summer, from my favorite sustainable and non-toxic finds to some wellness products and a few summer essentials thrown into the mix.

Quince Linen Wide Leg Pants– The fabric is really light, so they work well even on a hot summer day. I really love how sleek and put together these pants make me look. They are not baggy and sloppy looking, which some linen is guilty of.

Grounding– Walking barefoot in grass and getting out in nature is so good for the nervous system. I make it a point to do this every day in the summer.

Quince Aspen Polarized Sunglasses– These are just plain fun and stylish, and I love that the acetate frames are an eco-friendly alternative to conventional plastics made from petroleum.

Onyx Stainless Steel Popsicle Molds– We’ve had some pretty hot days here in Colorado, and my daughter makes the best homemade popsicles to beat the summer heat. The mold is stainless steel, so there’s no contact with plastic. Simply run each mold under warm water to release the popsicle. We have these popsicles on repeat.

East Water Straw Visor– Made from high-quality natural straw with UPF 50+ Sun Protection. I love that the back is adjustable, and I wear it all the time when it’s sunny outside.

Siam Seas The Guardian Serum– I tried this serum on a whim (it has 5-star reviews) and it really delivers. It’s packed with a ton of antioxidants and it makes my skin glow- it’s like a healthy smoothie for my face!

Spring Roll Bowls– This is such a fresh, tasty and healthy recipe that’s perfect on a hot summer night!

Dr. Song Glycolic Acid Toner– This is such a great hack for dry skin! Mix a few drops of glycolic acid with your body lotion in your palm, then massage into your dry skin. It works like a charm to banish rough, scaly skin. You can slo apply it with a cotton round to your cracked heels.

Quince Bamboo Jersey Robe– Swap out your fuzzy winter robe for this light organic robe. This summer-ready robe is naturally breathable, moisture-wicking, and temperature regulating, so it’s exactly what you need after showering.

Iced Matcha Latte– My daughter has perfected the iced matcha latte, and it’s an iconic summer drink. I use this tin of Pique Organic Sun Goddess Matcha, which is quadruple toxin‑screened for heavy metals, pesticides, mold, and radioactive isotopes, with lab results for each production run.

Quince Carry-On Suitcase– We’re headed to Telluride this summer, and this is the non-toxic suitcase that I use- it’s PFAS-free and has no Prop 65 warning label! I use these Canvas Packing Cubes to keep my clothes organized.

Organic Simply Kraut– Did you know that sauerkraut shares similarities to GLP-1s? By positively affecting gut-brain signaling via the microbiome, sauerkraut may promote satiety and reduce cravings, similar to GLP-1’s effects. I’ve been eating it daily and noticing it keeps me full for hours.

Air Doctor Air Purifier– Without a doubt we will be exposed to wildfire smoke this summer living in Colorado. We have several Air Doctor air purifiers to mitigate the pollution.

On Cloud Cloudrock Hiking Shoes– I’ve discovered On Cloud athletic shoes and I’m in love with this brand!

Nala Extra Strength Natural Deodorant– This natural deodorant contains camellia seed oil, known for its silky texture and nourishing properties. All of their scents are organic botanical extracts and the ingredients support a balanced underarm environment. I have the Coastal waters and it goes on super smooth and smells like sweet and sour candy- I love that it actually works!
